From two years on the Village Board, to his half of a decade on the Village Plan Commission, to his countless volunteering and community fundraising activities, Jim's actions speak louder than any text on a website ever could.
Jim has worked tirelessly on the Village of Pewaukee Village Board for the last 2 years, and Plan Commission for the previous half-decade to help make strategic changes that will make the Village an attractive destination, financially viable, and most importantly, a great place to call HOME. He would like to continue seeing many of those items through, and remain your Village Trustee. Some of the accomplishments of Jim's tenure on the Plan Commission include (but definitely aren't limited to:
Jim's career in Public Utilities and appointment We Energies' representative to both Waukesha and Jefferson County's Economic Development Boards gives him an experienced perspective on infrastructure - and, often, the lack thereof.
In late January 2022, the White House released the final guide on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) that outlines the avenues in which the Village can acquire the necessary funds to expedite the rebuilding of our roads, vital water and wastewater infrastructure, and protection of Pewaukee Lake and River. Once elected, Jim will make sure we are working with our Director of Public Works and consulting engineers to apply for all eligible grants as outlined in the new BIL.
The Village has spent significant time and money on a strategic plan to improve Pewaukee. However, certain high visibility areas sometimes aren't maintained to the level they should be - especially at entrances to the Village. Jim will work with Public Works and area groups to make sure these areas receive the proper attention and portray the image Pewaukeeans want.
First impressions mean a lot. Neat, tidy appearances speak volumes when building the brand of the Village.
The Village of Pewaukee is one of the few municipalities in the area that doesn't broadcast or post their meetings. For the larger, more important Plan Commission meetings, Jim personally recorded and posted the meetings to help make sure those who couldn't attend could still view and remain informed. The Village has made strides in the past year to increase communication, and has done a good job, but has stopped short of broadcasting meetings. If elected, Jim will see through the implementation of recording and posting of all open meetings.
Pewaukee Lake is an amazing natural feature that makes Pewaukee what it is. Whether liquid or solid, you'll find Jim out on the lake, enjoying the recreation it offers. The lake's protection, maintenance, and improvements must be balanced delicately, and are issues that never stray far from Jim's mind.
As a small business owner, Jim understands and appreciates the challenges of Pewaukee's small businesses - especially in the Downtown District. His work and voting record on the Plan Commission (as well as his credit card bill) shows his dedication to the local entrepreneurs.
Local elections are, by statute, non-partisan. However, Jim doesn't need a statute to tell him what's right. Partisan politics have no place in local elections. As Jim knows from his time on the Plan Commission, the Village is too small and decisions too important to toe a party line. The only party Jim will accept an endorsement from is the Kiwanis Beach Party (which will be held June 24th and 25th, by the way).
Local elections have arguably the most direct impact on your day-to-day life.
